Ans. Bholi was the youngest daughter of Ramlal, the Numberdar. When Bholi was ten months old, she fell from the cot and some part of the brain was damaged. She stammered. Attack of small-pox made her ugly. She was the neglected person in the family. But she was sent to school because there was no chance of her marriage. Her parents became ready to get her married with an old lame man, Bishamber. When Bishamber saw the face of Bholi, he demanded five thousand rupees in dowry. Then Bholi refused to marry with him. She decided to remain unmarried, serve her parents and teach in the village school.
भोली नंबरदार रामलाल की सबसे छोटी बेटी थी। जब भोली दस महीने की थी, वह खाट से गिर गई और मस्तिष्क का कुछ हिस्सा क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया। वह हकलाया। चेचक के आक्रमण ने उसे कुरूप बना दिया। वह परिवार में उपेक्षित व्यक्ति थी। लेकिन उसे स्कूल भेज दिया गया क्योंकि उसकी शादी की कोई संभावना नहीं थी। उसके माता-पिता उसकी शादी एक लंगड़े आदमी बिशम्बर से कराने को तैयार हो गए। जब बिशंबर ने भोली का चेहरा देखा तो उसने दहेज में पांच हजार रुपये की मांग की। तब भोली ने उसके साथ विवाह करने से इंकार कर दिया। उसने अविवाहित रहने, अपने माता-पिता की सेवा करने और गाँव के स्कूल में पढ़ाने का फैसला किया।

Ans. This is aptly proved in the story of Bholi who gets a completely new personality and identity all because of the sincere and genuine efforts of her teacher. Her teacher’s loving words touched the innocent heart of Bholi. They instilled in her the confidence to come up to her teacher’s expectations because she did not want to let down such a kind goddess.
Her teacher plays a very pivotal role in her life to give her the courage to stand up for has own self-respect and fight for her own right which has always been denied by man.
यह तथ्य भोली की कहानी में सिद्ध हो जाता है। भोली पूरी तरह से नया व्यक्तित्व और पहचान प्राप्त करती है। इसका एक मात्र कारण उसकी शिक्षिका का गम्भीर और वास्तविक प्रयास है। उसकी शिक्षिका के स्नेहयुक्त शब्दों ने भोली के भोले-भाले हृदय को स्पर्श किया। उन शब्दों ने भोली में आत्मविश्वास पैदा किया कि वह अपनी शिक्षिका की उम्मीद के अनुकूल ऊपर उठी क्योंकि भोली नहीं चाहती थी कि वह एक दयावान देवी का तिरस्कार करे।

Ans. Bholi was the youngest daughter of Ramlal. She was the victim of destiny. When she was ten months old, she fell from the cot and some part of her brain was damaged. At the age of two years, attack of small-pox made her ugly with black spots on the enntire body. She even stammered. So everyone laughed. at her. She was really neglected. To send school, she was bathed, oiled her hair and she wore the old but good dress of her sister. So she thought that she was taken to a place which was better than her house. She got that affection and courage from her teacher which transformed her life.
भोली रामलाल की सबसे छोटी बेटी थी। नियति की शिकार थी। जब वह दस महीने की थी, तब वह खाट से गिर गई और उसके दिमाग का कुछ हिस्सा क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया। दो वर्ष की आयु में चेचक के आक्रमण ने उसे कुरूप बना दिया और उसके पूरे शरीर पर काले धब्बे पड़ गए। वह हकलाती भी थी। तो सब हंस पड़े। उस पर। वह वास्तव में उपेक्षित थी। स्कूल भेजने के लिए उसे नहलाया जाता था, उसके बालों में तेल लगाया जाता था और उसने अपनी बहन की पुरानी लेकिन अच्छी पोशाक पहनी होती थी। तो उसने सोचा कि उसे ऐसी जगह ले जाया गया है जो उसके घर से बेहतर है। उन्हें अपने शिक्षक से वह स्नेह और साहस मिला जिसने उनका जीवन बदल दिया।

Ans. Bholi knew that her prospective husband was a lame old grocer. He had quite grown up children also from his first wife. Still Bholi agreed to this unequal match only for the sake of her father’s ‘izzat’. She did not want to bring disgrace for the family by refusing the marriage.
However she was forced to reject the marriage as Bishamber was demanding dowry. She could not bear the insult of her father. By her refusal we may conclude that Bholi is no more Bholi. She is quite confident and understands everything.
भोली जानती थी कि उसका भावी पति एक लंगड़ा बूढ़ा पंसारी था। उनकी पहली पत्नी से काफी बड़े बच्चे भी थे। फिर भी भोली अपने पिता की ‘इज्जत’ की खातिर ही इस असमान मैच के लिए राजी हो गई। वह शादी से इंकार कर परिवार के लिए बदनामी नहीं लाना चाहती थी।
हालाँकि उसे शादी से इंकार करने के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ा क्योंकि बिशंबर दहेज की माँग कर रहा था। वह अपने पिता का अपमान सहन नहीं कर पाई। उसके मना करने से हम यह निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं कि भोली अब भोली नहीं रही। वह काफी कॉन्फिडेंट हैं और सब कुछ समझती हैं।

Ans. Ramlal was a prosperous farmer. He had four daughters and three sons. Bholi was the youngest daughter of Ramlal. Ramlal was worried about her. She was ugly because of small-pox. She was simpleton. She even stammered. There was no chance of her marriage. Meanwhile, Bishamber who was about 45 or 50 years old, limb and his first wife’s children grown up, sent proposal to marry Bholi. Bholi’s parents took it as an chance and became ready for it. But when Bishamber saw her face on the marriage day, he refused to marry and demanded 5000 rupees in dowry. When Ramlal put the bundle of notes at his feet, he became ready. Then Bholi refused to marry that contemptible person.

हाँ, भोली ने स्कूल में पहले ही दिन आनन्द उठाया। उसने वहाँ अपनी आयु की अनेक लड़कियाँ देखीं और खुश हुई। उसे आशा थी कि इन लड़कियों में से कोई एक उसकी मित्र बन सकती है। इसी दिन दीवारों पर बनी तस्वीरों के रंगों से उसे खुशी मिली।

Ans. Sulekha could not speak until she was five. When at last she learned to speak she started stammering because other children often made fun of her and mimicked her.

Ans. Bholi did not know what a school was like. She remembered how their old cow had been turned out of the house and sold. Therefore she was frightened and was reluctant to go to school with her father.
She felt that she was going to a better place. Bholi got a clean dress to wear. It was unusual event for her. She was bathed. Oil was rubbed into her dry hair. These things were new to her. These things made her feel that she was going to a better place than her house.
भोली नहीं जानती थी कि स्कूल क्या है। उसे याद है कि कैसे उसकी पुरानी गाय को घर से बाहर निकाल दिया गया था और बेच दिया गया था। अतः वह डरी हुई थी और अपने पिता के साथ स्कूल जाने की अनिच्छुक थी।
वह अनुभव करती थी कि वह अच्छे स्थान पर जा रही है। भोली को पहनने को साफ कपड़े मिले। यह उसके लिए एक असामान्य घटना थी। उसे नहलाया गया। उसके सूखे बालों में तेल लगाया गया। यह सब चीजें उसके लिए नई थीं। इन चीजों ने उसे यह अनुभव कराया कि वह अपने घर से अच्छे स्थान पर जा रही है।
