Ans. The Wizard was a talented magical character in Jack’s story. The wizard in Jack’s stories is a very small, dwarf man with a long white beard who usually solved the problems Jack faced and gave him the solutions to the problems. He resolves all his problems by performing a magic spell that reverses Roger’s predicament, making him happy. The wizard always helps Jack whenever a problem arises. The magic performed by the wizard is by some magical spell with his magic wand.

Ans.Age is the main factor of different views of different generations. Environment and situation also differentiate in the views of different people. In the story of Roger Skunk, Jo wants that Roger Skunk should retain his sweet smell of roses in place of his original stink. Jo is a four-year old innocent girl. Life is beautiful and happy for her. She dreams of fairyland. Friends are everything for her. She cannot bear Roger Skunk without any friend. On the other hand, Jack is a practical, realistic and experienced person. He wants to teach the harsh realities of life to his daughter. So he insists that Roger Skunk should be changed into his original stinking form.

Ans. Roger Skunk had a problem. He smelled very badly. All other little creatures of the woods would keep away from him. Whenever Roger Skunk would go near them to play, they would tease him crying, “Uh-oh, here comes Roger Stinky Skunk.” Poor Roger Skunk would be left alone weeping. He went to an old wise owl to solve this problem. The owl advised him to go to the wizard. He went to the wizard. The wizard lived in the dense forest over a little river. Roger Skunk told him his problem. The wizard changed his bad smell into the smell of roses. Roger Skunk was happy. All other little creatures began to play with him. When he went home his mother became furious. She found the smell of roses awful. She took him right back to the wizard. She hit the wizard with her umbrella on the head. She made the wizard to change Roger Skunk in his orgininal Stinking condition.

Roger Skunk smelled badly. No other creatures of the woods liked to play with him. He got his smell changed into the smell of roses by a wizard. His mother got angry. She took him right to the wizard. She forced the wizard to change him in his original stinking condition. Roger Skunk smelled badly again. This was the ending of the story. But Jo did not like this ending of the story. Jo wanted the wizard must hit Roger’s mommy with his magic wand, and not to chnage the smell of littel Skunk. She wanted that stupid mommy should be punished.

Ans. Jack feels caught in an ugly middle position. Even at his age, he is not quite sure whether he himself was right or his mother. He let his mother’s wish prevail but somehow his heart has never quite accepted the decision. The decision, perhaps related his marriage also. That is why even though, his head asks him to help his wife in her work, his heart revolts against it. He wants to have nothing to do with her.
